Yorkshire’s landscape ranges from the dramatic cliffs of the east coast, to the end of the world at Spurn Point, the shifting sands at the mouth of the Humber estuary. The Pennines run along the western edge, rising at times to over 2,000 ft above sea level. The glory of the limestone in the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the stark wildness of the heather upland moors that thrive on the Millstone Grits around Haworth and Brontë Country. The North York Moors National Park with its heather, forests and deep dales that hide hidden treasures of flora and fauna. While the rolling and undulating beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds, a classic chalk landscape, has an ancient history and stories captured by Winifred Holtlby.
